Five women take lead in preliminary count

Five women candidates are currently leading in their constituencies, according to the preliminary count. The Fa'atuatua i le Atua Samoa ua Tasi (FAST) party leads with three women out in front, while the Samoa Uniting Party (SUP) and the Human Rights Protection Party (HRPP) each have one.
Caretaker Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism, Fiame Naomi Mataafa, is maintaining a strong lead in Lotofaga with 454 votes, well ahead of FAST’s Fuimapoao Taliilagi Beth Onesemo on 214 and Fiaola Iosua Lole on 236.
In Safata 1, FAST’s Seve Tei Fuimaona is ahead with 897 votes, fending off a challenge from HRPP’s Leaana Ronnie Mulitalo Posini, who has 742, while SUP’s Fepuleai Sameuelu Taufao trails on 186.
Another FAST candidate, Afamasaga Leone Mati Vaili Masame, is leading Aana Alofi 4 with 809 votes. She is followed by HRPP’s Sevealii Taulalo Seveali on 544 and SUP’s Toeolesulusulu Cedric Schuster on 429, with independents Tagoiaega Levi Puipui (400) and Lasei Sione Lasei (61) further behind.
HRPP’s Aeau Tima Leavaiseeta is also in front in Falealupo, securing 359 votes. Her closest rival is FAST’s Seufata Sulutolu on 283, with Tuimaseve Loto Phindy Seumanutafa Fiu at 121.
Meanwhile, in Palauli 1, FAST’s Mulipola Anarosa Ale Molioo has taken the lead with 528 votes. She is ahead of independent candidate Lealofi Leuluaialii Lolopo Agalii Gafo on 371, HRPP’s Fuli Pisa Mulipola on 256, and another independent, Tupai Avala FaSavaiinea, on 129.
