Leauvaa packed even after closing time
The polling venue in Leauvaa was still packed even after 3 pm, with people still waiting to cast their votes.
Polling venues across the nation opened doors at 8 am on Friday and closed at 3 pm. Constituencies with a large number of voters had not been able to finish polling by 3 pm.
The general rule for the Office of the Electoral Commission is that those who were already in the polling venue would be allowed to finish voting. Anyone arriving after closing time will not be accepted under any circumstances.
The preliminary counting for venues which have had their ballot boxes delivered to the main operations centre in Tuanaimato.
For venues where polling has closed, the focus is now on the safe transportation of ballot boxes.
