A polling booth in Falealili No.1 has opened its doors an hour later than the scheduled time to start voting.

The doors opened at 9 am. Voters had lined up as early as 6 am, hoping to cast their votes early,

An elderly woman said she went to the polling booth at 6 am and ended up waiting three hours.

Even though everything is calm and peaceful at Falealili No.1, voters at Sapunaoa raised concerns about the lateness.

Silepa Aumua said she hoped that the booth would close at 4 pm, an hour later than scheduled, to compensate for the hour’s delay.

Officials said they will consider opening late, but it would depend on the number of voters left.

Police officers at the scene apologised to the voters lining up outside, saying there were circumstances beyond their control that caused the delay.
