Between the Lines

RIFT

There is talk of rifts within a church organisation as allegations of misuse of funds have surfaced against the church leader’s family members. Many are even talking of breaking away and forming a new church.

LOAN

A church had also stated earlier that they would be able to repay their loan from the superannuation body very quickly. It has been almost a year since that was said. The hotel property purchased by the church is not doing so well either.

PRICE CONTROL

2025 will not be forgotten so easily. The year of early elections, cabinet ministers getting charged, court cases, medical emergencies, fake chairs and above all, the first on record for not having a price control order.

EXPENSES

It is great to hear that the rugby union body is bearing all the expenses for the national team in Dubai. Had this been done earlier, say during the Pacific Nations Cup, we would not have had the need to be in Dubai.

FUNDING

Nothing has been heard about repairs happening to the courthouse. Maybe there is time to get the development partners to fund the repairs. Fingers crossed, the funding should arrive before the building falls.

FROWNED

A senior sporting executive frowned upon a Tongan weightlifter practising in Samoa. News flash, it is the Oceania Academy, which means people from anywhere in the Pacific are allowed to train here. The academy promotes sports tourism and brings funding for the local association.
