Between the Lines
NEW CARS
Quite a few cabinet ministers have been seen zooming around in new cars. The previous ones may have been delegated for other ministry use. There was no word spoken at the budget announcement about the purchase of the new vehicles.
SPEED
A government vehicle zoomed passed people at high speed on Sunday. The white Toyota Landcruiser which is usually parked in Vailele just had the driver and there were no passengers. Speed kills, even if it is a government vehicle.
SECOND OPINION
A health report last year recommended increasing the prices of sugar-based drinks, snacks, alcohol and cigarettes to fight lifestyle diseases. It seems the budget makers got a second opinion.
RAIN
Heavy rain is forecast for the nation. Areas in need of bridges, clearing of blocked waterways and bad roads will once again pop up. The doubling of the grant could solve some of these problems. People in Moamoa think so.
CHOICE WORDS
The mics at the Toa Samoa picked up some very unkind words, most targeted at the referee and some at the Kiwis. However, what was inappropriate was the booing of the haka. Looks like people did not pay attention in church.
CAUTION
It is November, and the cyclone season is here. People should be prepared and take heed of weather warnings. Any trough of low pressure should be assumed to form into a cyclone. On that note, do pray for the millions affected by the super-typhoon in the Philippines.
