Between the Lines
TINTED
There must be a lack of staff at the airport or it could be a natural tint for the sunlight. Windows at the international airport have become almost opaque from the dust that is covering them.
PARKING FINES
It would be prudent for the transport authority to employ a meter-maid. A traffic officer to issue fines for not paying parking fees and for when the parking time has run out. This may require a change in law, but it may free up the police to do other things.
DIFFERENT VIEWS
Alcohol consumption at university night functions, such as socials is an accepted norm the world over. Maybe the student body should make it clear that the event serves alcohol and organise something different for those not indulging in alcohol, and want gospel songs to be played.
POLICIES
Six reports, including strategic policy plans for the next five years, were launched last week by a ministry. There have been so many policy papers launched, yet so little action taken. The money used for consultants, graphic design artists and printing the policies could be used elsewhere.
EXTRA FUNDS
Each district will now get $0.8 million more than last year. It would be of great use if all the added money could be used to pay school fees for children and teachers’ salaries. The grapevine has been humming that some district offices are going to pay higher lease and rentals.
CAMERAS
Vehicles zooming along the highway and some even through red lights are becoming a common occurrence. Red light and speed cameras is a good option. It also earns revenue.
