ESTIMATES

What could be the reason why the national budget estimates are not simplified enough for a common person to understand? The way budgets, past and present, are presented, one needs to be a chartered accountant to understand. In all of this, the changes in taxation are never provided. Budget affects people, so rightfully, they should be able to understand it.

FITNESS

A disciplined force requires discipline in all aspects of its work. This includes uniform, the dos and don’ts while in uniform and also fitness. The top cop's job is yet to be filled, but the incoming person could look at improving fitness standards. This could also prevent early deaths.

PRESENCE

The men and women in blue are now more visible across the township than ever before. It seems the beat is back on. This is how policing should be. It does make the streets safer. Maybe more needs to be done to increase presence in the crime-prone areas.

DISGUSTING

A couple had to deal with an irritating man who would not take no for an answer. The couple parked at a supermarket were approached by the man, who asked for money, and when told that they would not give him any, he became aggressive. After a verbal confrontation with the husband, the culprit promised to return with his friends to beat him up.

HIV

Rising HIV in neighbouring countries should prompt churches, schools and village councils to highlight the issue and have discussions on the subject. The thought that access to contraceptives, such as the good old French letter, promotes sex should be dropped. It prevents teenage pregnancies, STIs and HIV.

BUSES

Bus services to some rural areas are being affected by the conditions of the wooden buses. Tax exemptions could solve the issue, so investors can look into purchasing brand new ones as cheaper prices.
