A politician was recorded on video after the parliament ended last week, saying that this was the perfect time to focus on building a house. Hopefully, it’s his money he is using.

FUNDRAISER

The red party boycotted the independence celebration to focus on their fundraising on Monday. The record for most fundraisers this year and the last is theirs.

TURNOUT

The large turnout at the independence celebrations was a good sign. It shows the sacrifices of leaders are still being honoured. Hopefully, the fautasi races will make a comeback next year.

REGISTER

Some people want the electoral office to come to them or pick them up if they want them to get registered for the election. Self-serving politicians were heard of, but self-serving voters are new.

TWO MILLION

Close to $2 million was going towards the district councils if the budget had passed. It could be a blessing in disguise, the budget failed to stop the money from being misused, given the lack of transparency about its use.

FOOD CHECK

Food vendors selling at weekends need to be checked by the health authorities. Some are selling inferior quality products yet charging high prices.
