Between the Lines

LAWFUL

The PM has stayed where she is because she has been following the law. In contrast, her former party comrades have done everything but follow the law. All this would not have happened if someone had stepped down after being charged in January.

DISCIPLINARY

Underhanded dealings and political affiliation while being a civil servant do not look good for the postman of the report to the highest house in the country. If the Public Service Commission is still functioning, disciplinary action should follow.

BE CAREFUL

People are using the sudden interest in Samoa to use AI to create fake news in order to get traffic to their sites through social media. Be careful when clicking on these fake news pages, as they take you to a website that could hack your data.

HEAD INJURY

A 19-year-old New Zealander has died of a “serious head injury” sustained in a social media-inspired game of tackle with friends, police said. The young man, identified in local media as Ryan Satterthwaite, died in the hospital on Monday after a game of “run it straight” in the city of Palmerston North.

LAW AND ORDER

Police need to ensure law and order is maintained during this period and also ensure that reports against everyone, including former elected individuals, are followed through. One such case is the withdrawal of the $50,000 from the Unit Trust of Samoa.
