Between the Lines

FIRES

A few cases of home fires were reported in the last week, including one in Magiagi two days ago. Fire safety is a lesson that should start at home and be talked about during family time.

WIFI

Free Wifi at the domestic wharfs in Upolu and Savaii, according to the Samoa Ports Authority. The notice was put up on Friday. Now you know where all the teenagers from neighbouring villages will be hanging out.

ARRESTED

Kudos for the fast work by the boys in blue and members of the public who helped capture a teenager wanted for robbery and theft.

DEAF RUGBY

The Saturday market at the government building will host the Samoa Deaf Association’s rugby team. Great time to learn sign language and help the team with their trip to Australia.

SAFETY

Electricity workers are on top of a pole without all the safety equipment. Missing were the insulating gloves. The pictures show men holding onto the cables. The power may be switched off, but it takes one idiot like the incident in Malifa last year to cause a serious accident.

FONO

Start thinking of alternate routes if you are going to be crossing Malua with the conference proper beginning next week for Samoa’s biggest church. Also, this is where you will find most government leaders if you are looking for them.
