Between the Lines

LESSONS

It is not a pretty sight when the blocked drains are overflowing. Two lessons here. One is that contractors are doing a poor job, and the second, people never learn about littering.

TAXIS

Beware of those conniving taxi drivers. One such driver tries to con a passenger by asking him double the fare for a run less than a kilometre. The driver was blessed with nice words as a tip.

TRAFFIC

The boys in blue braved the hot Friday sun to ensure traffic did not become heavy with Mother’s Day shopping. Top points for effort. In the end, traffic congestion won.

ROBBERY

People are not safe in their homes. An elderly man was hospitalised after being violently attacked by a robber. Police are looking for the suspect.

TIPS

Tips for the weekend from the police are catchy. “Don’t drink and drive. Uber is cheaper than bail… and way more comfortable than the back seat of a patrol car.”

OUTAGES

There were power outages in certain areas, which did not last very long. However, it is concerning because this could mean that the temporary measures could be affected.
