Kuka Mikasilau, 29, Luatuanu'u

"I am residing here at Upolu and my father is at Savai'i; I know that Father's Day is this coming Sunday and I won't be able to celebrate it with him. I am working hard this week to earn money to buy him a small gift which is a pair of shoes and a shirt for him to wear on Sunday to church. My sister will be coming on Friday this week from Savai'i and I'll let her hand over my gift for my father on Sunday. Our family is also preparing a huge feast for Father's day and not forgetting ice cream on the side.

Tuileva Fuafanua, 34, Faleapuna

"My father resides at Safune, Savai'i and I would like to wish him an early "Happy Father's Day", I don't have a gift for him but I pray to God to prolong his life to serve our family as well as our church in Savai'i. The most important thing of all is for our father to reach Father's day so he could celebrate with my family at Savai'i."

Puipuivao Ifopo, 31, Faleula

"Father's Day is a celebration honouring fathers and celebrating fatherhood, paternal bonds and the influence of fathers in society. Children buy their father's great gift and wish him on the day to make him feel special. I won't be able to celebrate Father's day with my father because he's in America but we will still have a feast on Sunday to commemorate his importance in our family."

Rosa Avapalu, 56, Tulaele

"For Father's Day, we will give him a new pairing a of white shirt with an ie faitaga to wear to church on Sunday. Also to remind him about good leadership in our family to keep our small circle happy and peaceful. Father's Day is all about showing love and support for the father and the effort that he puts into the family; it's about him being appreciated by us. We pray and hope for a better Father's Day this coming Sunday."

Siulia Liliau, 29, Nuu

"We don't have that much preparation for Father's Day, I am buying my father a suit for their father's day entertainment on Sunday. Our whole family is preparing our to'ona'i and umu for Sunday and a cake to celebrate Father's Day. As for my husband, he is working as a seasonal worker overseas, I will wish him a Happy father's day when I ring him on messenger."

Sia Faamoesiolo, 22, Fagamalu

"I am living here at Upolu but I will travel to Savai'i on Friday to celebrate Father's day together with my father. I thank God for his blessings and guidance upon my father for he has come this far in life, our family is planning a toonai on Sunday for all of us to come together and celebrate. I will give my father what he likes on Saturday, I'll get him some bottles of Taula as a gift for Father's Day."
