Tears of joy flowed freely for many passionate Manu Samoa Sevens fans yesterday when the men in blue did the unthinkable in Paris. The Falemiga Selesele captained team came back from the dead to beat Fiji and win their first HSBC Sevens title since 2014. How do you feel about their performance? Deidre Fanene asked in today’s Street Talk and this is what the people said:

I am amazed. It was spectacular. This is what we have been praying for in a long time, and yesterday our boys did it. They put Samoa’s name on the top and for that I am so happy and want to thank them for the effort that they have put in. There’s one more leg in the series and hopefully our boys will be able to do what they did yesterday.

I am so proud of the boy’s performance. This was the first time I actually looked forward to watching our boys play. I don’t know about others but I was nervous watching the boys play. In the end, it was all worth waiting for and the sleepless night. Well done boys.

Pati Mose

Who wouldn’t be happy with the outcome of the game? I just want to say a big fa’amalo to our team for the great effort that they have put in the game. I know every time our boys go to a tournament our people will always have negative comments about their performance but yesterday they have proven that they can do it. So well done boys.

All I can say is “Well Done Manu”. You have put Samoa’s name on the top and I am so happy that I was able to watch the final. Not only the final but their game with South Africa too that was amazing. This team deserves our support and they have proven to our country that they can be the champions. Keep it up.

Our boys did it, they have proven to us that they can do it despite all the negative comments from the government and other people. Yesterday’s game was just amazing and I am so happy that we beat South Africa. The final was just amazing both teams from the South Pacific went head to head to see who will win and at the end we did so well done boys. I am one proud Samoan!

Matautu Lefaga

How else do we feel except happy and proud. It’s been a long time since we won the cup for the sevens and our team has done an amazing job. This is what we have been longing for and our boys in blue made it happen. So thank you to the Coach and especially the players for making Samoa one proud country.
