Team Samoa has been training for the Commonwealth Games and believes that all athletes are well prepared to bring home medals.

The men's 7s rugby team will be the first to depart Samoa this Thursday, followed by the rest of Team Samoa a week later on 21 July.

The official send off for Team Samoa will be held next Monday with the Deputy Prime Minister joining the athletes on behalf of the Samoa Government and people.

Mr Pauga told the media all the sports have been training since last year.

When asked if any of the sports showed promise for medals, he said: "With the recent results for weightlifting, they have been competing virtually in the last five months and they are very high level now.

"This is our best hope in terms of medals also our 7s team are up there as well and perhaps this is our strongest Team Samoa.

"We will do our best."
