Brisbane church helps out Satoalepai rugby
The Wesleyan Methodist Church in Brisbane, Australia, has come to the aid of the Satoalepai Rugby Club by handing over much-needed gear for the men's and women's teams.
Reverend Risatisone Taufao and his wife Faitauga Taufao presented this donation to the President and the Satoalepai Rugby Club.
According to the club president, Maiava Laki Lafaele, the pastor and his wife are from their village and working in Brisbane Australia. They requested for assistance from them for their club in terms of uniforms or sports equipments and they are grateful they have answered with these four sets of uniforms.
The donation was put together by Reverend Risatisone and his children, Tuilagi Tuifaasisina Taufao, Maiava Afoa Elisaia, Mataia Leota Sinaumea, To'alepai Panapa Leiataualesa Gareth, Maiava Efi, with other members of the village in Brisbane. Other rugby clubs in Queensland such as West Bulldogs Rugby Club and Springfield Panthers Rugby Club pitched in as well.
Member of the village, Liumanu Faatonu acknowledged the kind gesture.
We understand it was not easy for you and everyone involved to put together these uniforms and bring them to Samoa. Thank you for thinking of the future of our youth who are playing rugby. The uniforms will help them in upcoming sports events," he said.
Maiava confirmed that it's been more than a decade since they received new uniforms, as it is quite expensive.
"Thank you so much for these wonderful uniforms, it is indeed a great help for our club. It's been 15 years since we last received any uniform due to the shortage of money. But this generous donation will go a long way. Our club currently has four males and two females who have been selected into our provincial team," he said.
