Meitaki win Marist mixed title
Meitaki claimed the Mixed Opens division at the Marist Touch tournament on Saturday at the Tuanaimato football field defeating Marist Family 5-3.
Captain for Meitaki Roseanne Moananu said Marist has always been a tough opponent.
She is happy and proud of her team's effort throughout the tournament. Some of her team members were a bit worn out as they played for the Men's and Women's teams on Friday.
She said they had accomplished their goal which was to win the 8th Marist touch tournament.
"The game was really tough. Marist has been a rival of us, they always push us to our limits. Every final that we've had, it's almost always with Marist. They set the standards high and we go higher," she said.

"Today, we were off to a bit of a rough start because some of our boys came late. But I guess they were tired from the games yesterday, but they came in and stepped up again.
The Marist tournament has always brought the touch community together. And, it's always good to have fellowship with different clubs."
Roseanne confirms that they will be returning next year to defend their title.

The Most Valuable Female Player was awarded to Jessemina Fong of the Marist Family team while the Most Valuable Male Player was awarded to Dennis Maresa of Meitaki Touch Club.
The third place went to Konexxion after they beat Taniwha in a close match, 6 - 5.
