Cycle tour hailed success
A cycling competition called 'Tour of Samoa' successfully ended on Saturday with Samoan cyclists sharing their enthusiasm about the competition.
Reupena Simanu who came third overall in his competition said he had the best time of his life during the competition and will continue to ride.

"I was born and raised in Auckland, but my father is Samoan, my grandfather is from Vaoala and my grandmother is from Fagamalo, Savaii. I've come here to represent Samoa," he said.
"I had a really great week of racing with the crew and I came third overall. I won the stage in Savaii, just outside my grandma's village which was really nice. I had a lot of fun so now I'm just going to be relaxing.
"Next for me is to go back to Melbourne where I live, and just keep working, keep training and maybe do some more racing and focus on family and health. I started riding when I was 12 or 13, then rode back when I was in university."
The challenge for Reupena is the bumpy pothole-ridden road. Other obstacles include kids running on the road and dogs chasing them.
"It was a good race and nice route done by Seti and the crew. Great to see some parts of Samoa, great to see all the children running out, and dogs chasing after us, and great to see the pigs running away from us as well. But I was able to overcome it through concentration and lots of training."
He also advises the young ones who love to ride their bikes to join the sport as it is quite interesting if you love the sport.

Another Samoan cyclist from Falefa Kalapu Siusalanoa who is 19 years old from the Mountain Bike club, has just joined the sport this year. He said it is very challenging, especially when competing against some great people in the sport.
"The competition was tough as I was going against a lot of good cyclists, the challenge is going on the hills. It was pretty much the toughest part of the competition," he said.
"It ended well and I thank God for protecting us on the roads that we took. There was an incident that involved one of our cyclists, he was chased by dogs, somewhere near Saleimoa but he's okay. Going forward, I want to continue this sport, I know I will get better."
