Federal Pacific Insurance donated $30,000 to the FedPac Mataniufeagaimaleata Sapapalii International 7s on Thursday evening.

Reverend Esera Esera, treasurer Papalii Charlie, and tournament director Papalii John Taimalelagi received the cheque.

This is the third year of this tournament. However, this year Sapapalii is going international. There will be teams from New Zealand and American Samoa.

"In addition to changes, there will also be a competition for our schools which is the U18 on Thursday the 22nd of August," Papalii said.

There are 16 teams in the tournament, eight men's and eight women's. An opening ceremony will be held at Sapapalii to kick-start the tournament. 

On Friday 23 August, pool games for the men's and women's divisions will start. All finals will be played the following day.

Also on Saturday, a ceremony to commemorate the arrival and acceptance of Christianity in Sapapalii will be held at the Congregational Christian Church Samoa at Sapapalii.

Other teams expressed interest in the tournament unfortunately they had to turn them down as spots were limited.
