Samoa go down to Indonesia in hard fought match
Samoa U19 lost their second match of the ICC Under 19 Men's cricket World Cup East Asia Pacific Division 2 Qualifier to Indonesia by three wickets.
Samoa batted first and were all out for 147 runs at the end of the 35th over. In reply, Indonesia survived some tenacious Samoan bowling to make 148 runs for the fall of seven wickets in the 48th over.
A day earlier Samoa thumped Vanuatu with a 152-run victory. Batting first Samoa scored 202 runs. Vanuatu was all out for just 50 runs.
The competition started on Tuesday with Vanuatu, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, and Indonesia competing.
Head coach for Vanuatu, Ronald Tari in an interview said the competition was tough as all teams competing prepared well and were vying for a spot in the World Cup.
His team hasn't had any luck with the competition yet as they lost both their games against Samoa on Tuesday and Papua New Guinea on Wednesday.
"We came with a team that is not really experienced but we played against a really good side and experienced team P.N.G. The boys needed to pull up their socks as there was a lot to learn from the game today," he said.

Samoa International Cricket Association Chief Executive Officer Salā Stella Siale-Vaea said: “Hosting the ICC U19 Men's Cricket World Cup East Asia-Pacific Division 2 Qualifier and the ICC Men's T20 World Cup East Asia-Pacific Sub Regional Qualifier A is a monumental achievement for Samoa Cricket.
“It showcases our capability to host international competitions and provides an incredible opportunity to inspire our local athletes, boost our economy, and promote Samoa on the global stage.
“These events will elevate the standard of cricket in Samoa, foster community spirit, and bring international recognition to our beautiful nation. We are proud to welcome the cricketing world to our shores."

In the other match played on Wednesday PNG defeated Vanuatu by nine wickets.
