Aoga Fia Malamalama has hosted a presentation ceremony for five of their students, who are recipients of school-funded equipment, which the special education centre hopes will contribute to developing their talents and skills further.

The school for children with disabilities donated gardening supplies and equipment to their students Minoi Simeone, Newyear Nelesi and Christine Bourne.

The management hopes the donation is an investment in the students' current skills, which they hope would lead to income earning opportunities for themselves and their families.

The school staff had visited their students' homes and saw their home-grown vegetable gardens, realising that it was a hobby that they enjoyed and had put a lot of effort into.

Art supplies were also given to Phaniel Farani who loved to paint, with his teachers pointing out his skill using blank canvas with a paintbrush and paint. Iafeta Pouono also received art supplies to support his screen printing talent that also impressed the school staff.

Aoga Fia Malamalama has been working to help each student discover their strengths and talents, in the hope it will foster them to allow growth for the students, as well as earn income through their talents in future.

And with the support of the parents as well as the school, they hope to create a better future for themselves. The parents who attended the event expressed their appreciation to the school manamgenet for the items their children received.

Tau Talafua, a parent from Aleisa village, said she is happy with the opportunity that is being offered as well as the donations to support her son's hobby.

"I'm happy because this kind of opportunity doesn't come every day and it is also a blessing for my family as well," she said.

The Principle, Sharon Suhren, told the Samoa Observer that they hope the donation to the five students and their families would create a pathway for future employment to generate income for themselves and their families.
