Relocation works wonders for barber shop

Motopuaa Faig’a Faig’a gives 110 per cent to his work as the owner of the Fain’z Fadez barber shop and hair salon and gives priority to his customers.

And he continues to put the interest of his customers first, which is why he relocated his business premises to the Pat Ah Him building.

In an interview with the Samoa Observer, Motopuaa said seeing his customers line up outside their previous location compelled him to relocate his business.

And two weeks after moving he has no regrets as the new business is more spacious and convenient for most of his clients who are high profile people.

“I prayed to God to help me find a bigger spot because I can’t stand looking at my client waiting outside when it was a full house,” he said.

“The majority of my clients are church ministers, business owners and high profile people but when I’m busy and the shop is full, they used to wait inside their own cars until we called them to come inside and cut their hair.

“So I prayed to God to give me another good spot so that I can serve Samoa to the best of my ability and do what I am able to do.”

Motupuaa said their new premises was previously used by a sewing business and left due to payment issues, which opened the door for him when Maualaivao Pat Ah Him gave the approval for him to move in.

“I am very grateful to Afioga Maualaivao Pat Ah Him for giving me this opportunity so that I can expand and stretch my shop.

“The old spot is two narrow and I can see there is no future for me and my business with that spot for ten years.

“So I was begging Maualaivao for a bigger place and he responded with his satisfaction of my services here and my rent payment.”

Due to customer demand, Motupuaa built a small canteen within his barber shop to sell hot and cold drinks, noodles and snacks to clients who are waiting to get their hair trimmed.

“I built a small canteen inside to buy coffee, noodles, water, sandwiches and other snacks. The reason why is because I experienced that my client used to look for the nearest shop to buy coffee or water as they are waiting for their turn, so I prefer to have a small canteen for them inside the barber shop.”

His business prospects are looking good after two weeks as he has purchased more tools of the trade and even recruited another staff.

“So two weeks ago I moved here and fulfilled my dream of growing bigger to satisfy my clients. Now I have four chairs and four mirrors and I added one new employee.”

And customer feedback is positive thus far, daring him to do even better in terms of the service his barber shop and hair salon offers.

Motupuaa is from the village of Sataua in Savai’i and is married to Satapu and has four children.
