The cabinet has agreed to separate the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries into two ministries, said Prime Minister Laaulialemalietoa Leuatea Schmidt.

He said opportunities for fisheries have been dominated by agriculture, and it's time to separate the two.

He said the government is planning to develop the area of fisheries by renovating wharves to create more fishing vessels.

The new changes will be effective next Wednesday.

The Prime Minister also announced that two Samoans have died while on a medical referral program overseas.

Laaulialemalietoa said one patient passed away while awaiting an operation in India and another was awaiting heart surgery.

He said the a substantial amount of money was given for the treatment of the two patients. He said the government is ready to bring them home.

The Prime Minister said more opportunities are being offered by other countries like Fiji and China.

Laaulialemalietoa also challenged Opposition Leader Tuilaepa Sailele Malielegaoi and Lealailepule Rimoni Afiafi to take their drug tests.

He said if not, he can send the Samoa Scientific Research Organisation to do their tests.

He said he is clear of any drugs or alcohol, despite accusations he heard from some people that he is a drug lord.

The Prime Minister also commented that 5000 voters have just registered with the Office of the Electoral Commissioner.

He said people who did not register for the general elections should be charged.
