A post-election legal challenge over the electorate of Lefaga and Faleaseela has been settled after a gentleman's agreement between competing candidates led to the withdrawal of a petition on Wednesday.

Petitioner Sua Tanielu Sua withdrew his electoral challenge against elected Member of Parliament, Masinalupe Makesi Masinalupe, a member of the Fa'atuatua i le Atua Samoa ua Tasi (F.A.S.T.) party.

In turn Masinalupe dropped his counter suit for his Human Rights Protection Party rival.

The Chief Justice, His Honour Satiu Simativa Perese, informed the lawyers representing the parties to advertise their intention to withdraw as a requirement.

The matter will be called again on Thursday next week to make the changes official.
