Urgent amendment to "confusing" electoral law sought

Conflicting legal interpretations of the Electoral Act 2019 revealed during candidate electoral petitions for the election has prompted the Office of the Electoral Commission to seek urgent clarification to the legislation. 

The proposed changes are in the Electoral Amendment Bill 2021, which is on the Parliament’s order of business, and will be debated after the Supplementary Budget 2020/2021 is passed.
