The cost of fuel in Samoa will rise slightly in Samoa from Tuesday but only some motorists will be affected by the increase.

This was confirmed by the Minister of Finance, Sili Epa Tuioti, who announced the increased prices for petrol, diesel and kerosene on Monday.

The wholesale price for petrol will increase slightly by $0.3 sense per litre, but that increase is not large enough to make a material difference to the rounded price paid by motorists at the bowser who will continue to be charged $2.18 sene per litre of fuel.

Diesel, by contrast, will increase by 2 sene, from $2.06 sene to $2.08 per litre.

Similarly, Kerosene will increase by 6 sene, moving from $1.62 sene to $1.68 sene per litre.

“The key market drivers ([the Singapore fuel price benchmark] and Freight costs) were relatively stable in October, however, the US$ strengthened against the Tala by 0.5 per cent leading to increases for all products,” the statement said.

The increase for the month of December comes after decreased prices in November.
