A total of 1,585 English books will enhance the learning capacity of Samoan students of all levels thanks to a donation from Orewa College in New Zealand.

The presentation was held at the Office of the Chief Executive Officer (C.E.O) of the Samoa Tourism Authority (S.T.A), Faamatuainu Lenatai Suifua.

He presented the books to the C.E.O of the Ministry of Education, Sports and Culture (M.E.S.C), Afamasaga Dr. Karoline Fuatai on Wednesday.

In an interview with the Samoa Observer, S.T.A C.E.O said the books were handed over to one of their main offices in New Zealand by Orewa College during the measles epidemic.

“These were donations which we were supposed to ship over to the country during the measles but it took some time because of the measles crisis and the Covid-29 which followed,” he said.

The shipping costs were handled by the S.T.A.

The Ministry of Education C.E.O. acknowledged the donation, saying they will hold a meeting with school principals to discuss the donation and the management of the books.
