The impact of educational support is powerfully reflected in the achievements of Anthony Schwalger, one of the students supported by a local company.

He received a scholarship from Fero Samoa this year.

Anthony was recently recognised at the Don Bosco Technical College awards ceremony after completing Certificate II in Construction, earning honours for Excellence in Craftsmanship, and being named the Most Outstanding Student in his programme. The multiple awards highlight his dedication, technical skill, and commitment to excellence in the construction trades.

The pride surrounding Anthony’s achievements was clearly evident when his parents visited Fero Samoa to personally share their son’s awards and express their gratitude for the support provided through the scholarship programme.

The awards show Anthony to be a focused and hardworking student who consistently demonstrates leadership, attention to detail, and a strong work ethic. His accomplishments have marked a significant milestone for his family, who have seen firsthand how access to education can open doors to a brighter future.

A spokesperson for Fero Samoa said Anthony’s journey reflects the purpose and values behind the scholarship programme.

“Seeing Anthony’s parents come in to share his achievements and thank the Fero team was incredibly meaningful. It reinforces that our scholarships are not just about funding education, but about empowering families and creating opportunities that have a lasting impact.”

The Fero Scholarship supports students pursuing STEM-related disciplines at vocational and tertiary levels, particularly those facing barriers to education. In addition to financial assistance and industry exposure through internship opportunities, a proportion of scholarships is specifically targeted toward female applicants, supporting greater inclusion and participation in technical fields.

Fero Samoa has confirmed that the scholarship programme will continue in 2026, with applications opening in January. Further details will be shared through Fero Samoa’s official communication channels.

Anthony Schwalger’s achievements stand as a strong example of how educational support, when combined with dedication and family encouragement, can unlock potential and deliver meaningful outcomes for individuals and communities alike.
