Man pleads guilty to burglary, theft

A man has pleaded guilty to burglary and the theft of goods and valuables worth more than $4,200 from a home in Vaivase-tai.

The defendant, Joe Faimasasa, appeared before Supreme Court Justice Leiataualesa Daryl Clarke via video link this week to enter a plea. He has faces one charge of burglary and one charge of theft. 

Justice Leiataualesa asked the defendant if he wished to engage counsel or if he wished to enter a plea unrepresented.

The defendant said he wished to enter a plea. 

With regards to the burglary charge, he admitted to breaking into the Vaivase-tai home of the victim, Seilala Luamanuvae, on 17 January, 2020. 

He also admitted stealing a Bluetooth speaker, a mobile phone, a DVD player, a gold watch, a gold chain, a pair of Havaianas, more than $500 tala in cash, clothes, three cases of pisupo and other items. The goods stolen are valued at $4,216.

Justice Leiataualesa noted Faimasasa’s guilty pleas and set sentencing for 12pm on 15 Jul, 2020.
