The Samoa Met Office has advised members of the public to remain alert as the bad weather is expected to continue.

While the Tropical Depression expected hit Samoa on Friday afternoon appears to be more towards American Samoa, members of the public shouldn't let their guard down.

“The TD09 is slowly moving away from Samoa but is now hitting American Samoa," says Maccarios Auvae, a Weather Scientific Officer at the Met Office.

"However our satellites show that there is another low pressure system approximately 700 kilometers from Apia, located at northwest of Wallis and Futuna.

“So we are still enforcing all of our warnings and advisories, since there is still satellite image of another low pressure which could possibly turn into a Tropical Disturbance. It is set to arrive this evening and yes we will experience heavy rainfalls again,” he said.

There will be times where Samoa will experiencing sunshine however there are also periods of heavy rainfall as well.

"The weather is unpredictable at this stage, and we can't say for sure whether the low pressure that is currently forming at the northwest of Apia will turn into a Tropical Disturbance," he added.

The MET office is hoping the heavy rainfalls will subside by Sunday.
