The Police have charged a man with attempted murder after he allegedly stabbed his wife in front of Farmer Joe’s supermarket at Fugalei on Tuesday night.

Commissioner of Police, Fuiavaili'ili Egon Keil, confirmed the charge when responding to questions from the Samoa Observer.

“We have the man in the custody of the Police and it is a domestic violence case and he’s charged with attempted murder and causing injuries,” he said.

The stabbing victim was taken to the Tupua Tamasese Meaole National Hospital on the night of her alleged stabbing and released after treatment.

Fuiavaili'ili said alcohol was a major factor in the domestic violence case, but he refused to divulge more details on the case, and added that the accused is in Police custody pending his criminal mention in the Supreme Court.
