The stars of the top-grossing “Hello, Love, Goodbye” Filipino film have acknowledged their Samoan fans' support via a social media video.

Kathryn Bernardo, the film's lead actress playing the role of Joy, and Alden Richards, who is acting as Ethan said they’re grateful for the support from Samoa.

“Hello Talofa Samoa, so we heard this will be the first Philippine movie to ever screen in Samoa,” Mr. Richards said.

The stars say they are hoping that Samoa will enjoy the movie as they made it to appreciate and honor the roles of parents, brothers and sisters who make sacrifices to provide for their families.

“We hope we can see you [when] the next Filipino movie screens. Please know that we are so grateful for all the love and support,” Ms. Bernardo said.

The film tells the story of a quintessential overseas Filipino worker, working hard in Hong Kong to provide for her family in the Philippines, with aspirations of migrating to Canada.

Ethan, the male character, by contrast is less driven. He is working as a bartender as he waits for his residency to push through. Joy has shied away from relationships but is unable to resist Ethan. 

When they fall in love, they both agree that the relationship would be temporary. They grapple with challenges faced by Filipino workers in Hong Kong.

The ending of the story is leaving a question mark on social media as the screening is in line at Apollo cinema.

The movie, with Bernardo and Richards paired for the first time, is now the highest grossing Filipino movie of all times and it now racks up to $31.28 million tala worldwide. 

The first screening at Apollo Cinema was yesterday.
