The Tama Samoa team has made its debut at the Brisbane Global 10s and although they came up short in their first game, there is a lot to like about the team.

Samoa lost, 12-7, to the Canterbury Crusaders in Brisbane.

It was a tough match with the men in blue enjoying all the possession in the early part of the game.

But they couldn’t turn possession into points which is something the Crusaders were better at when Seta Tamanivalu scored for the match’s first points, 7-0.

At halftime, coach Alama Ieremia wanted the team to keep possession and demanded more accuracy.

A poor kick off wasn’t a good response. And when the Crusaders scored their second try through, Jed Brown, it looked all but over at 12-0.

But Samoa refused to give up.

They responded with a brilliant individual try from Alesio Logotuli. Patrick Fa’apale added the conversion to reduce the gape, 12-7.

Samoa had other opportunities but they just couldn’t convert them into points.

In the end, the Crusaders were happy to boot the ball to touch to end the game.

Samoa’s next opponent is the Auckland Blues.
