Driver wanted after hit and run kills 19-year-old

Police are searching for the driver of a black Ford Ranger allegedly involved in a hit and run that killed a 19-year-old from Faleasiu on Sunday morning.

This was confirmed by Police Spokesperson, Auapaau Logoitino Filipo.

“According to reports, there were two teenagers who were walking on the side of the road next to the Congregational Christian Church at Faleasi’u,” he said.

“The black Ford Ranger was coming from Faleolo heading to Apia when it hit the two teenagers."

“The 19-year-old died at the scene while the other one sustained severe injuries."

“We are urging members of the public, especially in the said area who might have seen this, to please come forward or provide information about the incident."

“We are also asking the driver of the said vehicle to come forward, a life has been lost because of your reckless driving."

“The family of this young man is mourning because they have lost a loved one.”

Auapa’au also took the opportunity to advise all vehicle owners and drivers to be careful while behind the wheel.

“We want to advice members of the public and all drivers to drive carefully,” he said.

“Slow down when you are on the road because you never know when accidents happen."

“Slow down, follow the speed limits because it can save lives.”

In a different matter, a 41-year-old man of Saleaumua, Aleipata was electrocuted last week.

According to reports, the deceased was cutting his garden fence when he accidently cut a live wire and he got electrocuted from it.

He passed away at the scene.
