Baha’is National Governing body meets

The Samoan Baha’is National Governing Body, known as the National Spiritual Assembly for the Baha’is of Samoa and American Samoa, has met.

They met for the first time for this Baha’i Era, 174, April 2017 till April, 2018 at its National Office, Lelata, Apia 20th and 21st May, 2017 to consult, deliberate and make plans for the growth of the Faith in this Holy Year in Samoa according to the Baha’i Calendar worldwide. 

It is the year that marks the elapse of two hundred years since the Birth of Bahá’u’lláh, the Prophet Founder of the Baha’i Faith and this Celebration will be in October, 2017. 

This was their first meeting of the National Spiritual Assembly since their election onto this Body on Saturday, 29th of April, 2017 during the 48th National Convention of the Baha’i Faith in both Samoa held at the Grounds of the Mother Temple of the Baha’is of the Pacific Ocean, Tiapapata, Apia, Samoa. 

The Universal House of Justice which is the International Governing Body for the Baha’is of the World with its Headquarter on Mt Carmel, Haifa, Israel was represented by Mrs Nadia Fifita who is a Counsellor from Australasian Board of Counsellors who has given the keynote address to open the National Convention. 

She also took part in the delegates deliberations during the National Convention and especially during consultations of the Ridvan Message from the Universal House of Justice.

The delegates also gathered at the Tomb of the late Malietoa Tanumafili II for a Special Service marking the 10th year of his passing on early Sunday morning the last day of the Convention. 

The newly elected members of the National Spiritual Assembly of the Baha’is of Samoa are Lemalu Si’omia Auvele, Taitu’uga Fia Papali’i, Bill Gordon, Masina Pomale, Toepo Eliza Hunt, Ali’imalemanu Collins Luatutu, Elisaia Leu, Rahmat Fa’aola Pele and Peseta Demetrius Fogaseuga Taofiga. 

They will also be representing the Samoan Baha’i Community to the 12th Baha’i International Convention which will be held on Mt Carmel, Haifa, Israel, late April, 2018.
