Prime Minister Laaulialemalietoa Leuatea Schmidt has pushed back against concerns raised by former prime minister Fiame Naomi Mataʻafa over the independence of key institutions, including the regulator, the parliament and the Ministry of Justice, saying the authority to assign and oversee those responsibilities rests with him.
