Safata No.1 by-election postponed

The cabinet has postponed the Safata No.1 by-election until further notice, according to a notice put up by the Office of the Electoral Commission.
The by-election was scheduled for February 6. Coincidentally, Friday 16 January was marked as the date to finalise candidates.
According to the notice, under Section 38(1)(c) of the Constitution of Samoa 1960, the Safata No.1 constituency's by-election has been postponed as mentioned in the Writ on 12 January 2026.
The notice was signed by Electoral Commissioner Tuiafelolo Alexander Stanley on Thursday evening.
