Seve and Leaana both guilty of election corruption, Safata No.1 heads to by-election
Safata No. 1 will head to a by-election as the Electoral Court has found the petitioner and counter-petitioner guilty of corrupt practices during the general elections.
Respondent and member of parliament for Safata No.1, Seve Tei Fuimaono, was found guilty of six corrupt practices related to the election. The petitioner, Leaana Ronnie Posini, was found guilty of 14 allegations related to corruption.
Judge Justice Leiataualesa Darryl Clarke and Judge Justice Vui Clarence Nelson also advised the Speaker of Parliament that the seat for Safata 1 is now vacant, which means Safata 1 will now go back to a by-election.
