A vehicle crashed into the Samoa Money Transfer office in Fugalei on Wednesday morning, forcing staff to shift operations to a nearby office in the Burger Bill building, according to employees who were on duty at the time.
The cashier at Samoa Money Transfer, who asked not to be named, was on shift and said she had not seen an incident of this kind in her more than 12 years working for the company. She said the crash disrupted operations and required the office to move to the Burger Bill office while the damaged area was secured.
The crash involved a rental car driven by a woman. According to the security guard who witnessed the accident, the vehicle hit a pole between the two front doors and a window of the main building. The impact occurred less than two metres from where the cashier was seated, and that "it was lucky no one was lined up inside."

The cashier said she and two other workers were inside behind the counter when the vehicle struck the building. She said she considers herself fortunate because the outcome could have been different if the car had gone through the window.
Both the security officer and a front desk worker said the crash happened between 10 am and 10:30 am and has been reported to the police.
The security guard reported no injuries, and Samoa Money Transfer said the company is holding the driver's passport.
When the Samoa Observer visited the scene, damage to the front of the building was visible from the road, and workers were already repairing it. The company continued serving customers from its temporary location while repairs were being arranged.
The Samoa Observer has contacted the Acting Police Commissioner Leiataua Samuelu Afamasaga for comments on the matter.
