The leader of the Human Rights Protection Party (HRPP), Tuilaepa Sailele Malielegaoi, addressed supporters and party members at Petesa on Saturday morning, urging patience and faith as the nation continues to navigate post-election proceedings.

“There is right and wrong - and right will always win,” he said, stressing that actions taken the wrong way will eventually be revealed.

Supporters, families, and friends gathered for a short service before participating in a traditional ava session with party leaders and members. The meeting also drew candidates who are currently leading in their constituencies. NamulauuLu Papalii Leota Sami Leota, who is challenging the Speaker of the House, Papalii Lio Oloipola Taeu Masipau, in Faasaleleaga 3, and Taioaliiseu Fiti Aimaasu, contesting caretaker Minister of Finance Lautimuia Uelese Vaai in Vaimauga 3, were present.

The HRPP leader acknowledged the ongoing uncertainties surrounding the elections and court cases. “There is still a lot to go, the elections are not finished, there’s still another count and also there are courts pending and there will also be court dates to come,” he said.

He encouraged members and supporters to remain steadfast. The party met with more of its members to prepare for the next stages of the elections, continuing a process that has been in place since the party’s founding.

It was noted that the remarks underscore the HRPP’s determination to pursue legal avenues in contesting election results. Tuilaepa emphasised that the party’s focus remains on pursuing what he called “the truth” and ensuring due process is followed in the coming weeks.
