Law and order will be maintained during the upcoming general elections, and the Samoa Police have given their undertaking that security breaches and threats will be dealt with.
Police Commissioner Auapaau Logoitino Filipo said the force has finalised its operational plan to ensure that the election is conducted peacefully and without disruption.

Police officers will be deployed nationwide to cover the election and conduct routine policing duties. Each polling booth will be manned by two officers to safeguard voters and officials throughout the day. Additional teams will oversee wider election security operations, while other units remain dedicated to responding to matters unrelated to the election.
“There are officers allocated to respond to public needs outside of the election, while at the same time ensuring full coverage of the polling process,” he said.

To reinforce manpower, the Ministry has drawn support from the prison service. This additional staffing, according to the Commissioner, assures that the Ministry can address any unexpected challenges swiftly and effectively.

“Our hope and prayer as a Ministry is that this election will be peaceful and safe. We must leave the decision of leadership to God and accept the outcome as His will,” he stated.
“We encourage our people to stand shoulder to shoulder with us, to work together in carrying out the election successfully, so that it may run smoothly and remain peaceful.

“With everyone working together, we can ensure a safe and orderly process."
