Court moves court dates for election

Independent candidate Lauano Mulivai Lauano's alleged forgery case, which was scheduled to be called at the District court on Tuesday was adjourned as all court cases have been moved to allow judges to pre-poll.

It was discovered during a routine court check that all cases scheduled in the court from Tuesday onwards had been shifted to other dates.

Lauano's name was called by a police officer outside the District Court, but he did not appear.

The court register informed that Lauano's case was due to be called on Tuesday for closing submissions, was adjourned to 10 September.

Lauano is running as an independent candidate for Gagaemauga No.1. He is charged with forgery for allegedly placing his name on a document and passing the design of a structure as his own.

Laaulialemalietoa Leuatea Schmidt's trial for individual charges of defamation and criminal libel was also scheduled to start from 25 August. The case has been shifted to 2 February 2026, for mention.
