Lauofo considers NZ legal action
The Chairman of Anoamaa 2 District Council and Deputy Leader of the Human Rights Protection Party, Lauofo Fonotoe Lauofo, says he will take legal action against a New Zealand social media program which accused him of being involved in the sale of narcotics.
Lauofo told the Samoa Observer that it was about time he cleared the air and took the next step.
He said he's had enough of defamation and misleading allegations made by this online programme. He said the motive behind this is an attempt to ruin his reputation as the general election is getting near.
Lauofo revealed that after the general elections, he will travel to New Zealand to take legal action against the broadcasters.
"The accusations are absurd and all these lies are just unbelievable, and there's something that needs to be done to stop this," Lauofo said.
"Enough is enough, and I've had it."
The hosts on the programme accused Lauofo of getting involved in selling drugs, methamphetamine.
The broadcasters claimed that the sacking of the former Executive Officer for the Anoamaa 2 District Council was because of his involvement in selling drugs and using the funds he stole from the District Council to buy meth.
Lauofo was also accused of using dirty tactics in pushing his brother-in-law, who is running under the Faatuatua ile Atua Samoa ua Tasi flag from the same constituency, to try and split the votes for Toomata Nora, who is also a candidate running under FAST's banner from Anoamaa 2.
Lauofo said he cannot believe how people were coming up with unfounded allegations to try and manipulate the minds of the people and ruin his reputation.
Lauofo said he is now focusing on the general election and will travel to New Zealand to take legal actions once the general election is over.
