Fiame complain lodged, police probe FAST leader's claims

Police have begun investigations into claims made by Faʻatuatua i le Atua Samoa ua Tasi (FAST) Party leader Laaulialemalietoa Leuatea Schmidt about the alleged involvement of caretaker Prime Minister Fiame Naomi Mataafa in the murder of Professor Caroline Gabbard.
Police Commissioner Auapaau Logotino Filipo confirmed receiving a complaint from Fiame.
Earlier claims of the same nature by Lise Marie Schmidt ended with her being charged. Schmidt was initially charged by police in March following two letters she penned that made shocking allegations accusing the Prime Minister of involvement in the death of Prof Gabbard.
She alleged having conversations with the Prime Minister and meetings where she claimed she was instructed to retrieve evidence connected to the death of Prof Gabbard.
Following a police investigation into the claims, the charges were laid after it was found that the claims were fabricated. The matter is now before the court.
More details to follow.
