Blogger on bail, faces more complaints
Two other complaints have been lodged by the public against social media blogger Fiu Sikuka Lomitusi, taking the total number of complainants to eight, including the former opposition leader, Tuilaepa Sailele Malielegaoi.
Police Commissioner Auapa'au Logoitino Filipo confirmed that Lomitusi is on bail with strict bail conditions. He surrendered his passport to the registrar and is to sign at the Faleolo Police Post every Friday before noon.
He was also told that part of his bail conditions is not to engage on social media while investigations are pending.
Charges have not been finalised against Lomitusi as Auapa'au confirmed that investigations are continuing with additional complaints already lodged.
Lomitusi was arrested by police a week ago in Savaii and was brought over to Apia, and was charged with harassment using electronic devices, defamation and insulting words.
Lomitusi is a Samoan citizen residing in New Zealand. He was here to visit family and relatives when he was arrested.
