Pacific Break celebrates successful launch
The very first Pacific Break Concert launched in Samoa on Friday, 27 June, bringing together artists from all around the Pacific to perform live at Friendship Park in Apia.
International artists included Danielle from Papua New Guinea (PNG), Ju Ben from Fiji, and Chris Rohoimae from the Solomon Islands. Samoa’s talents, Tofaga Meke and Mr Cowboy, also took the stage, giving the crowd a real taste of local music.
It was a family-friendly event, with organisers making sure it was alcohol- and drug-free so everyone could enjoy safely.
The crowd loved the show. One young woman in the audience said, “It is such an honour to see our Pacific brothers and sisters performing here in our homeland. Seeing them live is a dream come true. The crowd was cheering at the front for the vibes!”
“My best performance was my idol, Stofa (Tofaga Meke). Her songs are famous on Facebook and YouTube, and she was such a vibe live! Not forgetting Mr Cowboy, he did a great job too.”
A young man in the crowd shared, “What stood out for me was Chris’s performance from the Solomon Islands. He talked about celebrating our Pacific culture in unity. His costume was amazing, showing their traditional wear.”
“We even heard some words in their languages, Danielle in the PNG language and Ju Ben in Fijian. They all have their way of doing music. It was such a memorable event.”
The Pacific Break is more than just a concert; it’s a competition. Anyone in the Pacific who wants to share their music can register now. Submissions close in August, and the winner will get to perform at one of Australia’s biggest music festivals: WOMAdelaide Music Festival.
This launch marks a big moment for Pacific music, giving artists a chance to share their culture, connect with fans, and aim for the international stage.
