Hundreds joined in to celebrate Olympic Day at Friendship Park on Saturday. Children beamed with joy as they took part in the fun-filled activities organised by the Samoa Association of Sports and National Olympic Committee ( SASNOC) in collaboration with the International Olympic Committee.

“Let's Move”  was the main theme of the event. This highlighted the importance of physical activity, community involvement, and overall well-being. Participants from various sectors came together to promote healthy lifestyles and celebrate the spirit of unity through movement and sport

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment(MNRE) joined the celebration, hosting an information booth to raise awareness on key environmental issues. Focusing on the ministry's ongoing initiatives, sustainability, conservation and climate change resilience, with a special emphasis on the role of youth and communities in protecting Samoa's natural environment

MNRE acknowledged the event as a valuable opportunity to engage directly with the public and inspire meaningful conversations about sustainable living.

“We’re grateful for the chance to share our work and encourage everyone, especially young people, to take action in protecting our natural resources,” said a representative from the Ministry. “Promoting environmental awareness goes hand-in-hand with building a healthier, more resilient Samoa.”

The Olympic Day celebration continues to serve as a platform not only for sporting excellence but also for advancing national development priorities through collaboration and outreach.
