Fiery exchange between La'auli and Leatinu'u

In a war of words between the caretaker Minister of Public Enterprises Leatinu'u Wayne So'oialo, and the Fa'atuatua i le Atua Samoa ua Tasi (FAST) chair La'auli Leuatea Schmidt, one has been accused of playing God while the other says, without the party, he would be dead.

It started when Leatinu'u made a post on his Facebook page last week saying in Samoan, "If FASA has a candidate who can run against me, bring it on."

Leatinu'u was referring to the FAST Party when he said "FASA," challenging the FAST party candidate to compete against him for his constituency's seat.

During the FAST party weekly Fofola le Fala programme with the media, La'auli said he was disappointed when asked by the media.

"This person (Leatinu'u) should think before he speaks," La'auli fired back.

"He should think about how he became a faipule and a minister, it was the FAST that put him there," he added.

La'auli went on and said Leatinu'u should think that without the FAST party, he would be dead by now.

He was referring to Leatinu'u's overseas medical treatments and La'auli said it was the FAST party that took him overseas.

"Using that word FASA is not nice and he should know better, think of what I'm saying, if it wasn't for the FAST party, which you refer to as "FASA," you would be dead by now," La'auli said.

FASA in English means wandering without a clear purpose or direction.

In response to La'auli's claims, Leatinu'u said, "That is what La'auli believes because he thinks he is now god."

"La'auli doesn't have the authority on a person's life except when he is god, because I think after God, then La'auli," he said.

Leatinu'u said he just feels sorry because he knows La'auli is weak and has been telling the public that he is clean from any sin.

"Is this what he meant by clean, charged, and has a case before the court?" Leatinu'u said.

"From my interpretation, La'auli is making his judgment, he is predicting his verdict of wanting to be innocent of all his mistakes."

This saga coincides with the time when Samoa is preparing for the upcoming election in August.
