Concert aims to give back for local education
A concert that will be held in July featuring Pacific Soul queen Aaradhna and also a lineup of local and regional artists, aims to support education for local children.
The Vibe Concert, put together by JK Entertainment, promised a night of excitement and fun with a cause to assist students from low-income families of up to 40 to get scholarships.
The lineup of spectacular artists includes Mr Cowboy, Wayno, Punialava'a, Swiss, Tree, Poetik, Tofaga Meke and DJ Dave, and the debut performances of Ben Solomona and Nato of Nato and Bros.
Her return to Samoa will be something special to her, as echoed by Pacific star, Aaradhna in a video.
She is a genre-blending singer, songwriter and producer who has become a defining voice in New Zealand music.
Aaradhna was born in New Zealand to Samoan and Indian heritage and first gained recognition with her 2006 debut album "I love you" and continues to captivate listeners with her other hits like "Down Time, "They Don't know", "Getting Stronger" and many others.
The Vibe Concert, the brainchild of Leiataualesa Magele Johannas Keil, who is also the Director of JK Entertainment and began in 2020, just before the COVID-19 pandemic hit Samoa.
“This event is more than entertainment—it’s about celebrating our culture, developing our inherent gifts and talents as Samoans, investing in our youth, and positioning Samoa as the music and entertainment hub in the Pacific,” said Leiataualesa of Samoa Vibes.
What began as a vision has now grown into a movement celebrating Samoan talent and resourcefulness.
In collaboration with Dawg Audio, Lighting Professionals Samoa and a network of local stage and events management expertise, Samoa Vibes aims to empower local industries and reduce reliance on international suppliers. The focus is to retain economic benefits within Samoa and build a sustainable, world-class events sector from the ground up.
This year’s event also marks the launch of the first-ever Samoa Vibes Hospitality and Entertainment Scholarships. These opportunities will provide students with hands-on experience in stage and event management, media production, marketing and artist coordination. As part of the ‘Back to School Programme,’ proceeds from the event will go toward fully sponsoring the annual school and exam fees for 40 students from families facing hardship, in partnership with the Samoa Outreach Community Centre in Malifa.
The Samoa Vibes Concert will be held on Saturday, 5 July at Tuanaimato Multipurpose Gym.
