Telecommunications provider Digicel Pacific announced their updated sign-up procedure that significantly reduces the requirements for registration, allowing individuals to join the platform using only basic personal details.

Only name, address, gender, occupation, and a photo. The move is part of Digicel's broader effort to address long-standing challenges faced by those without formal identification when accessing financial services. According to the company, this initiative is designed to remove entry barriers and help more Samoans participate in the digital economy.

My Cash offers a range of services, including mobile banking, money transfers, and bill payments, and has become a key financial tool for many in Samoa. By easing access, Digicel hopes to drive adoption and promote financial empowerment among unbanked and underbanked populations.

Digicel Samoa CEO, Karl Vizvary, commented, “We believe that everyone deserves simple and easy access to essential financial services. Our new two-tier sign-up process for My Cash is a testament to our commitment to financial inclusion and innovation. We are proud to be breaking down barriers, simplifying requirements, and empowering Samoans to participate in the digital economy.

"Digicel Samoa is playing a pivotal role in empowering underserved communities. This initiative not only enhances accessibility but also builds trust by ensuring we are providing a secure and reliable platform for all our customers.”

Central Bank of Samoa Governor, Maiava Atalina Ainuu-Enari, stated, “Digicel Samoa’s efforts to further the financial inclusion drive through this initiative is highly commended. No doubt a lot of work and resources are employed to make this initiative a reality and keep it operational, so we appreciate the strong spirit of collaboration in the shared agenda of promoting financial inclusion. This continues to demonstrate Digicel Samoa’s heart for the communities it serves.”
