As Vodafone Samoa celebrates its fifth anniversary, the company reflected on its transformative journey in reshaping Samoa’s digital landscape.

From a market challenger to a leader in telecom infrastructure, Vodafone has become a key player in driving the nation’s digital growth and community development.

Vodafone Samoa’s mission, “To be the preferred Telecom brand for every Samoan and visitor on the Island,” has guided the company in revolutionizing telecom services. Over the past five years, Vodafone has made significant advancements in mobile coverage, internet connectivity, and corporate social responsibility initiatives.

The company has built the largest network of mobile towers in Samoa, expanding coverage to both urban and rural areas, reaching over 95 per cent of the population. Additionally, Vodafone developed the country’s largest fibre-optic network, providing fast, reliable internet for homes and businesses, and recently launched 5G services in Upolu and Savaii, with the first 5G tower in Savaii set to launch later this month.

Vodafone has also embraced innovation beyond traditional telecom services. The company developed the official CHOGM Samoa App and supported the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting with Wi-Fi and delegate registration services. The launch of M-Tala, a mobile money platform, has significantly boosted the digital economy, and a QR-code-based solution is set to enhance its capabilities.

Vodafone Samoa introduced eSIM technology, enabling seamless connectivity without a physical SIM card, and the Moana TV App, offering affordable access to international and local channels.

Beyond technology, Vodafone has been deeply involved in community support, backing initiatives like Lakapi Samoa, sponsoring major events such as Miss Global and Miss Universe, and partnering with organizations like the Samoa Victim Support Group (SVSG) to help vulnerable groups.

The company also champions sustainability, with its solar-powered mobile tower on Manono Island setting an example for eco-friendly telecom solutions in remote areas.

Looking to the future, Vodafone Samoa is investing in AI technology to streamline services and enhance customer experience, solidifying its role as a trusted partner in Samoa's future.

As part of the global Vodafone Group, operating in 65 countries and serving 340 million customers, Vodafone Samoa’s success marks an ongoing commitment to innovation, community, and sustainability in Samoa’s digital evolution.
